About eAcademic

eAcademic is an academic resource management & network website that was built to help students share and access class material to assist in their learning process. This website also allows members to read details posted by other members for classes and jobs to make it easy to pick the right classes and in landing the dream job.

Our Commitment to Privacy

Since our members are major contributors of this website, we are make an extra effort to go above-and-beyond in protecting their privacy and are committed to build trust and confidence in our users by complying with the standards of the toughest internet privacy watchdogs.
To better protect your privacy we provide our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used herein.

The Information We Collect

eAcademic collects and saves information you provide at registration to use it for authenticating your access to class material. You can also choose to create your profile to make use of the academic network. Your personal and preference profile information, along with your name, email, and photo, are collected, saved and displayed to people within your network.

If you post personally identifiable information in areas of the site accessible to other users, you should be aware that such information can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used improperly to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums or for others’ misuse of such information.

eAcademic also collects and saves your information that is passive in nature such as cookies. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes. Cookies are used on this site. We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site. We use session ID cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our site. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove cookies by following directions in your Internet browser’s “help” file. To learn more about cookies, please visit this link: http://www.microsoft.com/info/cookies.mspx

As users navigate through a website, certain information can be passively collected (that is, gathered without the user actively providing the information), using various technologies and means, such as Internet Protocol addresses, cookies, Internet tags, and navigational data collection. eAcademic uses Internet Protocol (IP) addresses on this site. An IP address is a number assigned to a computer by the Internet service provider so that it may access the Internet. It is generally considered to be non-personally identifiable information because, in most cases, an IP address is dynamic (changing each time you connect to the Internet), rather than static (unique to a particular user's computer). eAcademic uses an IP address to diagnose problems with its server, report aggregate information, and determine the fastest route for your computer to use in connecting to our site in order to administer and improve the website functionality.
eAcademic logs IP addresses, or the location of your computer on the Internet, for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes. Log data is only used in the aggregate to analyze usage of the website. If you reject cookies, you may still use our site, but your ability to use some areas of our site, will be limited.

The Way We Use Information:

When you request access to class material, your name, email address, and major is provided to the owner of the copyrighted material. In most cases, the owner is your professor who reviews your information and chooses to allow or decline access to his intellectual copyrighted material. eAcademic is not responsible nor has control over the access of copyrighted material and therefore access is entirely the decision of the owner of the copyright.

Your profile information is presented to others within your network to view the feedback you provide on the classes and jobs you have taken to help other users decide on the classes and internships to take. You

Profile information you submit to eAcademic will be available to users of eAcademic who belong to at least one of the networks (e.g., school, major, friends). Your name, school name, major and profile picture thumbnail will be available in search results across the eAcademic network. This is primarily so your friends at other schools can find you and send a friend request. People who see your name in searches, however, will not be able to access your profile information.

Occasionally eAcademic will send you only service-related announcements. You may not opt-out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to deactivate your account.

eAcademic may use information in your profile without identifying you as an individual to third parties. We do this for purposes such as aggregating what companies are providing internships to students at your school and how the students rate the internships and/or the companies. We believe this benefits you. For example, if your profile lists all your experiences and classes that falls in the requirements of a company, we might serve you an advertisement for a job opening from a company. However, we will not tell the company who you are.
